Tiffaney’s Sober: How Cannabis Overtook Alcoholism

It's a Scientifically Proven Fact That Cannabis Helps People Become Alcohol-Free, Tiffaney Tells Her Story:

Earlier this year Lobbyists and lawmakers within the U.S. government who have been committed to supporting the assertion that marijuana is a “gateway drug” have been changing their tune, and it’s due to Alcohol. With scientific data mounting quickly there’s no choice but to have a change of heart or admit one is behind the times. Even official programs like D.A.R.E. as well as former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch (2015-17) have revoked this assertion. The long perceived and reefer madness created belief that marijuana is the gateway drug has become dust in the wind thanks to the vast number of addiction recoveries globally due to the plant which dismisses the scare tactic claims of the past.  Many have found relief from the intense life of being an alcoholic with the use of the plant. On the highest of levels, we’re seeing a change and the fact that medical marijuana does not lead to the use of harder drugs is being actively revisited on the federal level.

Cannabis is definitely a gateway drug in my opinion and I’m sure many will agree – it’s a gateway to recovery.  The number of patient testimonies increases by the day in regards to medical marijuana for alcoholism as people find the strength to step out and talk about it. It’s known that for many it will reduce the symptoms of any type of addiction including nausea, vomiting, sleeplessness, lack of appetite, alcohol cravings, and fatigue that go along with withdrawal and recovery from an addictive substance like alcohol. Then there’s Post Addiction Withdrawal Syndrome or PAWS which causes continued depression and many more symptoms cannabinoid medicine is known to treat.  All eyes are on the Opioid Epidemic but the fact is globally we face an addiction pandemic that’s so out of control the only hope that’s in view is indeed the healing Cannabis plant and its extracts.

Now, let's hear her story!

“I discovered both alcohol and marijuana in 1992 when I was a junior in high school. Most of my friends liked to party and both were accessible to me. I was immediately interested in both avenues of relaxation. Even underage, it was always easy to get someone’s older siblings to buy us alcohol. Finding marijuana was a different story. We would drive down into some unsafe neighborhoods in Detroit looking for marijuana and usually find success, though putting ourselves in danger. My college years were full of alcohol and partying, though I have always preferred cannabis. It’s easy to find friends in common who share the love of pot. Especially when everyone pitches in, it can lot of fun to be able to share new experiences with new friends, but pot is still illegal and has a stigma. My love of alcohol was a different story. I could start drinking whenever and wherever I felt like it, anytime.”

“I could drink an entire case of Natural Light when I was in college and still carry on, and up to a 12 pack of an IPA. I had been drinking heavily and consistently for 27 years. I am done now. That’s it, I am done, for good. I can thank the legalization of medical cannabis and God because cannabis is saving my life. I hit bottom with alcohol this year. I woke up early one morning, stumbling around and looking for my phone. I eventually found it outside in the backyard underneath a bench, wet and covered in leaves. I honestly don’t even remember being outside in the backyard the night before. That scared me.

Then I started looking through my text messages. As per usual, I had reached out and lashed out at everybody in my life. It didn’t even stop with text messages, I went ahead and emailed people too. Then like my normal habit of holding myself completely unaccountable for things said and done while drinking, I went ahead and deleted everything. It wasn’t long before my phone started ringing. My parents and my brother were starting to reach out trying to schedule an intervention. The truth is, their pestering did nothing to motivate me to quit drinking. In fact, if I hadn’t already made a commitment to volunteer at Mote Marine Aquarium that day and was being held responsible for, I would have started drinking at 8 a.m. instead.”

“I’ve been volunteering at Mote Marine Aquarium for 7 years. I was fortunate enough to get asked to help with the recovery of our stranded dolphin Salem this year. I credit my time with her and changing the trajectory of my life that day. During my time at the aquarium that day, I reached out to a friend I had met through mutual friends because I know we had some shared similar struggles. The first thing he said to me was that I needed to quit drinking. I made excuses, I denied it, and I thought to myself there is no way I’m ever going to quit drinking. We ended up hanging out late into the evening, and on the way home I stopped and bought a six-pack of my favorite beer. As soon as I got home I sat on the couch and opened one, it tasted like crap. I went to sleep that night and I woke up the next morning and I can’t even explain what happened. God tapped me on the shoulder and said Tiffaney, you need to be done drinking for good. I am done and happy to be sober.  It has actually been fairly easy, and because that I have been able to have access to medical cannabis I have been able to successfully quit drinking altogether. That’s it, I’m done after almost 3 decades. I know that I will not drink again in this lifetime, I have no desire to. Cannabis and my faith (and dog) are the reasons that I am able to stay sober.”

“The best part about being sober is that I feel like I have half my day back. I used to get way too drunk to even function in the afternoon, let alone in the evening. Now I feel like my life expectancy has doubled. I can enjoy my life in the afternoons and evenings and I remember them now. I usually go see the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico and look for my dolphin friend Salem. Cannabis brings me great joy and allows me to live.”

“I live a completely natural life now, God gives us seed-bearing plants at the very beginning of time in the book of Genesis. I thank him every day for the effect they have on me. My biggest priority now is to start scheduling cannabis events in locations that are not focused on alcohol. I like being around people who are high and happy, not drunk and unpredictable. There’s a huge difference in those social crowds. Cannabis has given me my life back while alcohol almost took it away.”

“As soon as the government realizes how big of a business this is, and how it literally affects every industry under the sun, they will have to move to discuss and legalize marijuana. This plant has never killed anyone and the only reason it has been under the stigma for so long is that it competes with Big Pharma and the alcohol companies. Cannabis is my lifesaver and the other two are not. That is an easy decision as far as my choice goes. All I can do is share my story, and keep educating, free the plant and legalize marijuana! I’ve been writing college papers on this since topic 2001, and the legal status still hasn’t changed. Hopefully, this is the year we are all set free.”

She definitely tells it like it is!

One thing for sure is that science is backing this all up.  Published International Studies dating as far back as 2007 show that Cannabinoid Receptor (specifically the CB2) activity relieves the brain’s desires for alcohol. When I dig for more research on this subject there isn’t much to be found but I don’t wonder why. At symposiums and medical conferences, there’s almost always a mixer before or after – or both where drinking is the norm.  Of course, not all doctors and researchers drink, but let’s face it – it’s not cool to be telling your friends that they can stop abusing their body using Cannabinoids – especially to any crowd that heavily favors alcohol and dismisses medicinal cannabis users as ‘potheads with an excuse’.  We have a way out for the addictions that life brings us – but it’s not easy.  Tiffaney found her way to freedom from alcohol – and now life must begin again. What many don’t realize is that when a person recovers from any type of addiction whether it be to prescribed pharmaceuticals, alcohol, or anything else – generally years or decades have gone by in which our feelings have been numbed. We don’t know how to live in this world yet without these substances whether we took them knowingly or unknowingly of what they would do.

It’s always beautiful to read about another success due to this beautiful plant.
